About VCDT

The VCDT is a not for profit professional, international theatrical ballet company. Based on the Renaissance principles of the inclusive synergy of the arts, sciences and philosophy the VCDT underlines a “re- birth” of classical ballet using the multiple, overlapping “trans” disciplines of the performing and visual arts with modern technology. Founded by directors Roberta Baseggio and Enrico Sorrentino, the company is based in the beautiful and vibrant city of Vancouver where productions are premiered before setting on global touring engagements.

As the launch initiative of the umbrella organization, the New Renaissance Education Society, our vision is to be a leading, international promoter and producer of world-class dance events that foster a new renaissance in the performing arts for local and international audiences while providing unique opportunities for arts professionals from around the world.

Our goal is to create a new form of entertainment that embodies the universality of dance and art. We will continually strive to increase the profile of our home city of Vancouver Canada, while developing new and innovative programs, exchanges and collaborations between professional performing and visual artists, and institutions at national and international levels.

In the future, the VCDT intends to work with community-based social change organizations in Vancouver to create high quality professional productions that focus on relevant social change issues (sustainability, environmental issues, human rights). Those productions will promote and advance social change through the medium of the performing arts.
